About the authors
Ryan Pikkel is a design strategist at Doblin. He is responsible for guiding clients and teams through innovation programs to articulate and develop solutions that will benefit both the client and the end user. In addition, Ryan makes significant contributions to developing Doblin’s own tools and processes — including the Ten Types of Innovation framework, the Innovation Tactics, and associated Tactics cards. His work has spanned industries, while he has helped to establish innovation capabilities for clients in Seoul and Mumbai. Ryan is also a member of adjunct faculty at the Institute of Design at IIT, where he teaches innovation tools and techniques.
Brian Quinn leads client relationships and programs at Doblin, the innovation practice of Deloitte Consulting LLP. He partners with senior executives to help their organizations innovate and become better innovators. Brian has worked with startups and Fortune 500 multi-nationals alike in sectors ranging from healthcare to CPG to heavy manufacturing. He also develops new perspectives and methods for Doblin in innovation implementation and building innovation capabilities for clients. He is a co-author of "Ten Types of Innovation: The Discipline of Building Breakthroughs," and his writing has appeared in Fast Company and The Conference Board Review. Larry Keeley is a strategist who has worked for over three decades to develop more effective innovation methods. Helen Walters is a New York City-based journalist with experience writing, editing and publishing content across multiple platforms. The former editor of innovation and design at Bloomberg Businessweek, Helen now works as the head of curation at TED, where she oversees the team responsible for producing and publishing TED talks from the world's most interesting people. She has written a number of design-related books.
